I broke the tranny
i guess?
i dont know much on what somethings supposed to feel like in a 5spd but..
it grinds when i try to back up and wont actually go into gear, and shifts really hard. now it was fine about 2 weeks ago. and yes i am pressing the clutch in

theres a couple possibilties. with reversre its probably your synchros, for it shiftiing hard i would say probably clutch and flywheel is worn down , i wouldnt think it would shift hard in all gears it would be synchros

gotta love when the mechanic calls and says it will be cheaper! 
cottmans said it was the hydraulics? i dont know much about trannys but ive never even heard of a hydraulic in the tranny
