how to's on wheel polishing .
im taking on a new project that i never have before , hand polishing wheels .
what will i need for this project ? i know its going to take major time im prepared for that
any ideas , help , or suggestions ?

Put it this way.... What you start with and how much work you put in completely dictates the entire project. The surface finish that the wheels have are the biggest thing. Once you get the surface knocked down level, it's pretty much the same amount of work no matter what. If you start with a very pebbly-looking, rough cast wheel, you'll have a lot of work before you even start polishing.

Get a few grades of wet/dry sandpaper. Wet sand up through finer grades until you get a base that starts to have a dull shine of its own and doesn't show scratches from the previous grades you used. Then you're ready to polish. You can stop at 800 grit if you have a fairly aggressive polish. This isn't the same as wet sanding and polishing paint; you don't have to go up as fine in grit because metal polish is more aggressive than buffing compounds.
