Does it happen all the time? Do you know if the previous owner did anything to the car?

It could of been a random miss fire or something that is effecting your fuel trims. I need a little more info.

no the previous owner only put 250 miles on it since september and he got it from charley faulk or something,it has a slight overheating problem which i will have taken care of tomorrow

so my guess is the o2 sensor is dumping a lot of fuel, getting the exhaust manifold hot as hell, causing the temp sensor to register warm, and now the check engine light stays on

See what the techs have to say about your overheating issue before you do anything since they could be related. There could be a lot of reasons for reading to rich, it's hard figuring it out when I'm not in front of the car.

well i just put a tip on it because the exhuast is a bit short, and i checked today and it had a small layer of black grudge, and when the car registers hot,the whole motor is still just warm, except the exhuats manifold is hott so like i said i think its just dumping alot of fuel, from not being driven much to being driven daily

ok changed all that and had the code deleted, then the code came back,i used electric parts cleaner on the o2 sensor in front of the cat because i saw some things off line that said it would work, couldnt get the rear one off so maybe that is why its running rich

Well the secondary O2 just makes sure your cat is working, it would just throw a light if something happened.

I don't know, you might want to have your injectors flow tested.

pretty much vw sucksim just going to find me a old 02 senor from a junk yard then reset the codes, and if that fixes it i will buy a new o2 sensor when i get pay'd

and so basically the o2 senor after the cat would not cause the car to run rich?
