Default How hard is a motor swap in a 91 240?

A friend is broke and is trying to sell his 91 240 for $500. I am considering buying it, but it needs transmission work(the joint that the slave clyinder moves on is bad?). How much would a sr20det swap cost, and how hard is it to do? I have done alot of work on Honda's, but have no experience with Nissan's. Just curious if it is worth my time and money. Thanks.

i'll buy the 240 if you don't, as long as he has the title and signs it over...but it's not hard to do an sr swap. just make sure you get your clip from a reputable place..for example NOT flashoptions.. in all i have probably put close to 3 large in the swap and i got my motor for pretty cheap (2 grand). i say 3 grand because no1 wants the stock downpipe/bypass valve/intercooler/intercooler piping. hardest part about it is the wiring but www.srswap.com can help you out on that note. i didn't know much of anything when i bought my 240 so..just hollar at meh if u need help. mah aim is turb0stump

That's a good deal. If you can turn a wrench it's easy. I swear they have started giving out sr's with kids happy meals.

if only the tranny has problems, why replace the whole engine? but yeah, the SR swap is a cinch, just finfished one myself....but it does take time if you want it to look "stock" in the engine bay.

Also, what the hell joint is to break, the slave cyl. mounts directly to the side of the tranny with two bolts.....i mean if they are stripped just rethread em.

either way, good luck.
