honda gauge cluster, with a manual work for an auto car?

I've got a 1995 Honda civic DX, auto. Speedo is dead, looking to replace the gauge cluster. I've only seen a few on ebay and they are for 5speed cars. The only difference i see is the gear selection (P-R-D-3-2-1) is obviously not on the 5speed clusters. Would it still work? I just want a working speedo, don't really care about having the gear selection displayed on the dash.

How do you know it is the speedo and not the VSS?

I believe for va state inspection your gear selector (p-r-n-1-2-3) has to be working. I'm not too positive about it being there though, probably won't slide.

i'm a nebraska resident, so not worried about inspection.

initially i thought it would be the speed sensor so i replaced it, but it still only works intermittent. then i pulled out a repair manual and have done all the troubleshooting. it's not the speed sensor or the harness, got it narrowed down to the speedo itself.

So im taking that as you checked all of your grounds as well?

If so, I do not see a reason as why it would not work. Go for it and I hope you regain your speedo. I know it sucks without it

Manual speedos in auto Civic's are interchangeable.. both forwards and backwards.
