Default Help needed Lexus/Toyota...

imma go out on a limb and see if a supra/lexus guy has had a similar problem....

I have a 98 GS300 2jz-ge I6. I have a misfire on cylinder 4 and I cannot locate the problem. Coil, plug wires, plugs and valve cover gaskets have been replaced. For those who dont know #4, # 2, and #6 are coil on plug. I have moved the three coils and plugs around to different locations but the problem persists on #4. any suggestions or input would be cool... before I tear into the harness?

Is this your engine or do you have the VVTi?

What is #4 doing exactly, pre-ignition or detonation?

No it is the VVT-i with three coil packs. One in the front for #2 and #5, one in the middle for #3 and #4, and one in the back for #6 and #1. I have switched the coils and plugs around to different locations, cleared the OBD code, but the #4 misfire code still comes back.

Yeah, that crossed my mind too, after the tune-up didnt fix it. I used my stethoscope...all injectors were firing, but i know that doesnt mean its flowing correctly. I did recall him saying he had recently used fuel injector cleaner.

but would the O2 pick up a dirty injector (as lean) or would the computer read it as a misfire?

Check any adjacent cylinder for firing problems. #3 or #5 I guess that would be.
OBD2 systems have a bad tendency to be a cylinder off on the read, regardless of manufacturer.
