Default HELP! D15b7/d16y8 cold start issues

ok so i have a d15b7 with a d16y8 vtec head mini me motor with an aftemarket header, intake, and fuel rail. lately when it starts up it spudders and hesitates and boggs really bad. but when i finally get it to run and drive it, it goes away and usually cranks and runs fine after that? wat would be the problem? do i need a tune? am i not gettin enough fuel? too much fuel? not enough spark? or wat? if you have any suggestions plz help out as to how i can diagnose this problem =] thanx guys =]

what ecm are you running?

any codes?

is timing right?

tps adjusted correctly?

fuel pressure?

map sensor voltage?

coolant temp sensor working correctly?

also the chassis info might help a little bit

yea the motor is in a 90 crx. my bad. its multiport, and obd1, p28 i BELEIVE i havnt looked yet. i just bought the car. but it just randomly started doing this? it ran fine a few days ago. now to crank it you have to hold the gas to the floor and it will barely run. so i let it run for like 10 mins and go back out there and its cleared up and running normal. the guy who had it b4 me didnt know shit about the car so i dont knw to much about it.

It's usually on the head. If the coolant temp sensor has failed, the ECU can think that the engine isn't at the right operating temp. This can fool the ECU into running the engine at the cold-start operating parameters all the time, which is much richer than normal. Or, it can fool the ECU into thinking that the engine is already warmed up, so it's not getting properly fueled when the engine is cold. Depends on the failure mode of the sensor. It's an easy sensor to check though, and a common failure point, so it's a good place to start troubleshooting.
