Re: help with carbon fiber

No. Never. Not unless you want a rancid hood.
Use a plastic polish like Novus, or a gentle fiberglass reconditioner/polish like some of the 3M Marine products. There are various grades of aggressiveness, so be careful what you get. This should get rid of any oxidation and bring back a good shine. Protect with a couple coats of good wax, or better yet, get it clear coated. Once it's clearcoated, the resin will be better protected and can be cared for like the rest of your paintwork.
If the resin has turned amber, there isn't anything you can do about that, the resin has been photochemically damaged by UV light and will stay like that.
I'm not sure who started the peanut butter bullshit, but it's really stupid. You'd be better off wiping it down with peanut oil, and it will still turn rancid in the sun.

I have heard that washing and clay bar works.

peanut butter WILL work and it will not smell or make it rancid at all if u wash it off. however it wont stay looking new for more than 2 weeks. i havent had time to try another method but i really dont care that much bc i have deep cracks in the finish anyway
