Default Headlights Gave Out? Aftermarket!

It's a 99 SI, it came with the xentec 8000k HID lights on it. I guess they are a knock off brand of the xenon?

Anyway, past couple of days driver side headlight has been flickering on and off. The other night..boom passenger side that was never the problem just gave out while driving. Turned them off then turned them back on and they both were flickering like police lights. Got home, they just went off and never came back on, after 15 minutes i turned them back on and they came on really dim for about 3 seconds then went off and never again did they work.

So i checked all fuses, checked out ok. Pulled apart driver side xentec pack, ONLY took off 2 wires and pulled it out, layed it on the table and realized there was another wire i never took off. So all in all, that wire was the reason why they were flicking on and off, it's the postive and ground wire that connect to the driver side headlight. I'm guessing when it came undone, it grounded out. What i don't understand is why would my passenger side headlight go out with it if they aren't connected?

i think its my relay? Under dash fuse box doesn't have the diagram on it, neither does the haynes manual either. I see only 3 relays, don't know what they go to put that is all the relays i can see in the fuse box! Help me out, never dealt with aftermarket headlights!

thanks!

Ballast gone bad, or worse case scenerio you fried your headlight wiring harness, which I highly doubt.

Xenon isn't a brand, it's the inert gas that goes inside the headlight bulb.

You most likely have a ballast problem; the ballast is the most expensive part of an HID system and aftermarket ballasts are usually crap. There is a reason OEM HIDs cost so much money. You might have a wiring issue also, or a ground problem.

If you're shopping for eBay HIDs, buy a few kits. You'll need spares. This is one great example of really getting what you pay for.
