Arrow head swap

Watup I have a non vtec d16y8, and am thinking about doing the mini me swap. The thing is I don't know all the parts I need to complete the swap. Any info would be appreciated, thanks

Wait, you said you have a "non-vtec" d16y8... all d16y8s are vtec. I'm confused.

For a mini-me, you will need a non-vtec block, a vtec head, and either the vtec ecu or a piggyback (v-afc, etc.) You will also need to be prepared to run wires for the vtec solenoid or get a vtec wiring harness.

The deal is the block is a y8, but the head I'm guessing is a y7. I just got the car from this high school girl. She had to get the engine replaced and that's what they gave her. She had no details because she was basicly clueless about the whole thing. So I'm kinda stuck with no info...

What side of the head are your plugs on. Front or back. Valve cover might not say vtec, but still could be. I think if they are in the front it is vtec. Front meaning front half of the valve cover.
