Default Grease on brakelines?

While cleaning my car I noticed grease caked on my inner wheel. So I removed the wheel and saw grease all over my brakelines. I couldn't really tell where it was coming from...can anybody help me out here? (sorry, i know it's a dumb question)

It may be, but I couldn't really tell. If it is, would I have to replace the whole axle?

yes.

actually, it could be any fluid...p/s; motor oil; cv axle grease.
you need to clean that mess off and try to ascertain the source.
a torn cv boot is fairly easy to identify once you're underneath the car.
