Good gripping tires for a fwd civic.
I searched and only found topics for auto cross or drag racing purposes only.
Im looking to purchase all season tires for my rim's but when it comes to choosing im clue less.
First thing is first, does anyone have any clearance issues running 225's in the front on a civic?
Second is choosing the tire. Im going with a 45 series to keep the front and rear matching seeing how the rear are practically brand new 215/45/15 Dunlop SP sport 9000.
Option 1: Downside-summer tires,short tread life.

Option 2: Downside- only 6/32'' of tread dont hook to well.

Option 3: Downside- short tread life.

Option 4: These seem like a winner, decent tread life with a good traction rating.

Option 5: decent tread,summer tires.

Now its time to choose or if you have suggestions please let me know.Like I said i want to stay with 45 series.
If you know of a location which should have tires of these specs please let me know, want AA rating with atleast 250+ tread life in a 215-225-----45/15

Match your tire model front and rear. You'll be much happier that way, no sudden surprises from a difference in front/rear breakaway progression. You'll thank me later when you don't total your car going around a corner too fast.

Get a complete set of something else then, and sell the two Dunlops that you have.
Or call TireRack and see if they can still get that size you have.

I you run 225 on the front you might just have to raise it up a lil bit depending on how low your car is but they work fine. my buiddy had them on the front of his car and they make it look mean.

This would be my recommendation in a 205/50/15 replace all 4.

These are easily the best all season tires Ive ever driven on . Handle excellent, last forever, and are inexpensive. Ive had 3 sets of the 512s (discontinued) on different cars and picked these up and they are even better.
I replaced my $300 bridgestones with these and these tires easily outperformed them.
And as far as going from a 215 down to a 205 you wont notice the difference on the street in a honda. As you should never be driving that close to your limit.

Re: Good gripping tires for a fwd civic.
First off i had 225's on my crx and had no problems it depends on the offset/size of the wheel and how low ur car is. The best tire that i have used with nice grip was the dunlop direzza! Its a great tire and they have bead saver side walls(they help protect the lip of your rim from curb rash and girlfriends that cant park too well)lol but the tires are great in the rain, winter and summer! Ive never had a problem with them, g/l with ur descision bro..
