Default Gas tank leak

Problem: Found a puddle of gas out front this morning...
I went on google for a while to find some help and came to find that people suggest me get sand paper, puddy and do this myself. Would this be smart? Or do i need to take my car somewhere? Thanks

Default Re: Gas tank leak

I guess the first thing to find out is where it's leaking from and why....

Is the tank rusted through, or did it get hit and cracked, or is the leak from someplace other than the tank (like a fuel line or fuel fitting).

If you just filled up the tank and you've filled up the fill neck all the way, it could be something as simple as a gasket or coupling leak.
