fresh built ls/vtec ctr cams sounds like a tractor.
Anyone know why after a fresh build my LSVtec has a pretty loud valve noise?
It has all new valves and valve springs (Omni power)
Ctr cams (it HAD gsr cams in it for 50 miles and the noise wasn't near as loud)
I just checked the valve lash and it's almost dead on.
I have heard of the 1st gen B16 heads having issues with the Lost motion assemblies but I am not sure how to test them or where I can even buy new ones.
It's a lot louder in the morning when the engine is cool but is still noticable while driving after it gets warm.
never had this issue before so hopefully someone can give some insight as to whether the LMA's could cause this noise or if I may have a more serious issue.
The whole setup now has 150 miles on it since the rebuild.
Just in case it matters I also have
block
b18a
9:1 JE pistons
Eagle Rods
new timing belt, water pump, oil pump
head
b16 with ctr cams, omni springs and ti retainers, buddy club cam gears
turbo
gt2871r t3/t4 housing (good for about 400+ hp)
mini ram manifold
tail blow off valve
turbosmart wastegate
hondata s300 and gm 3 bar map

LMA's can def cause that noise. They will sound fucking horrible.
If I recall correctly, I think I've heard of people using the H22 LMA's.

Most of the first gen b16 heads have lma (lost motion assembly) noise. You can replace them with newer ones from honda or the h22 ones like mentioned above. Using the h22 ones will require that you use a spacer underneath because they are a little shorter.
Usually the noise will sound like something is basically loose and floating around in the head. Valve tick is totally different noise.

it sounds like almost rod knock type noise but higher up in the head. I don't really know how to explain it really so I guess im gonna be doing a video when I get home from work which will be in 20 mins

Brandon, pull the valve cover off and push down on the LMA's with a screwdriver. they have little springs in them so they should depress after being compressed. Most likely yours are worn out and are not going to depress.
