Frankenstein Swap Questions
Just picked up another del sol. The motor installed is an obd2 d16y7 that is obd1 converted non vtak and I want my V-TAK!!!
I'm a just pick a y8 head But What all do I need to complete this successfully.
I'm in the process of researching it, but all I can really find is old ass Ef's putting on the y8 head.
I know I will need:
y8 head(with vtak solenoid)
d16 headgasket
and a p28 (to my knowledge cause my ecu don't got no vtak lol)
If you are familiar with this setup please hit me up asap with more info, maybe we can meet up and I'll bring a case of your fav beer and we can discuss the swap.

Re: Frankenstein Swap Questions
I would think that you would follow all of the same steps in the other applications and just make sure that the distributor will work correctly. Meaning that I am not sure if there is a difference in the distributor cases. If it is and you have to use the OBD2 distributor just swap out the guts to make it OBD1.
I would think that the procedures to make the head work on the non-vtec block would apply to all OBD.

Buy a headgasket for your head, use the distributor for that head and buy a Y8 or Z6 computer and wire in vtec. Btw, this isnlt "frankenstein" its "mini me"

y8 head or z6 head wired up with a p28 and new water pump and timing belt... should be straight but its not a hell of a difference and kind a waste of money
