Emissions issues

I just picked up a em1 couple days ago. And its running straight pipe with both o2 hooked up, but I have a cel for the bank 2 o2. Wat would I have to do to get it to pass? Could I just replace the o2??

Best choice would be just to put a proper exhaust back on it.

You will need to replace the faulty O2 sensor to get the fault to clear. You will also need for all of the I/M monitors to pass which means you will need a catalytic converter as well as all of the other emissions reduction components.

Re: emissios issues

You're getting a CEL for the second bank because you don't have a cat between the two O2 sensors. The rearward O2 sensor is used to detect cat function/efficiency, so of course it's going to detect that the cat isn't there. So the O2 sensor fault may or may not be a problem with the sensor itself, or it may be a problem with the straight pipe. It's possible that whoever installed the straight pipe damaged the O2 sensor.

So you either replace the cat or try one of the cat removal workarounds to fool the O2 sensor. But because any inspection station will potentially look under the car for the presence of a cat, you should figure out what the best option is...

pretty sure you can have up to 2 Not Ready Monitors?

I could be wrong as I've been outside of VA for quite sometime but I believe it depends on the year of the vehicle in VA. AFAIK new OBDII vehicles must have all I/M Monitors passed. I have no idea what an EM1 is and I refuse to search for it.

after 2000/2001 i believe is when all have to be present.

If the problem is your lack of cat, this might be cheaper than getting an exhaust. I don't know if it works.. http://www.civicforums.com/forums/22...on-w-pics.html
