Default EG steering question

ive got a 94 hatch cx. its lowered and got 16inch rims (205/45/16). The car doesnt have power steering but compared to other hatch/crx without power steering my steering is really hard to turn. whats the problem?

I have a 95 civic cx hatch as well and I have 15" hammers on mine and it is lowered and steering is the same like lifting weights while not moving and turning the wheel. It became harder when I put the hammers on it so I think it is the bigger size and weight of wheels just think if you havent swaped your motor yet it will be even more of a pain in the ass but you'll get use to it. That is all I can think of.

First off it is the contact patch of the tire. It is harder to turn the steering wheel at a complete stop because you have more rubber on the ground creating more friction that is fighting you. It's as simple as that.

and its going to be hard to turn the wheel at a stop anyways because of the lack of power steering. its just something you have to get over.
