Default ECU Question about M/T and A/T

i have an engine that came with an A/T tranny and im converting it to 5spd, will I have to swap out the A/T ECU for a M/T type ECU?

Actually it depends on the car, so you might not need to change out the ecu.

the engine is going into a Crx, im just swapping the tranny out for the 5spd

in most cases you would hafta switch due to slight differences in the programming for the ECU.

i see, i found out that the A/T GSR redlines at 7500 rpm's also which is weak as hell, so thats one reason i want to change it out also. dont Si's and GSR's redline at 8200 rpm's?

OBD1 auto to manual is cake, OBD0 is a little more involved, and often means changing programs. It's especially hard if the ECU doesn't have any provision for an external chip. What ECU is it?
