They 'could' work, but I wouldn't mess with it. Use timeserts and you should be good to go.

Re: do helacoils work?
Why did you just buy a block with stripped stud holes?
Timesert makes a head repair kit for that block BTW. Only $450.

Re: do helacoils work?
take the block to a good machine shop or speed shop.
i would say apples or if you have the money take it to larry mcbrides shop ..... his brother is the best in the world.... and thats not an exageration.
and btw....... almost all builders use them.
but if you do one you must do all.
i edited so i dont get flamed. helicoils are an old fix and there is newer options avail...... ie timesert but anyways if you get a shop to do it let them have the liability for the work. i would also advise you to have them also put the head on in case they did something wrong. goodluck getting anyone to do that, but if you dont ask they wont give.
I would not recommend CCC but they do have experience coiling the b18 blocks... they just fixed my roomies lsvtec because one head bolt stripped out after about a year after they did the lsvtec. guess what they did.... coiled the block...... and they guarantee for a year if they do all the work.

Re: do helacoils work?
DO NOT USE HELICOILS ON HEAD BOLT HOLES!
When i worked at Abacus, i cannot tell you how many blocks were brought in with damaged holes with helicoils already.
the suck for this application, plain and simple. i would never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever use them for a head bolts.
you need to use a TimeSert kit or take it to a shop who will only use TimeSerts.
Honestly, unless this block is special or already has work done to it, i would trash it. Its gonna cost 50-100 to get it fixed correctly and then you have to hope no other ones will strip out (because if one stripped, its quite possible other have or will).
cut your losses early. live and learn

The funny thing is.. TimeSert also sells a kit to repair Honda head studs that have already been damaged by Helicoils, if that says anything about the repair quality of Helicoils for high torque applications. The normal kit is "Honda & Acura Head Bolt First Repair " and the other is "Honda & Acura Headbolt Second Repair; Use after helicoil pulls out". I got a kick out of that.

Re: do helacoils work?
haha. yes sir. people just dont listen to those who OBVIOUSLY know about specific subjects though. I garuntee someone will look at this thread, and stop when it gets to the post about the guy saying its fine, then go use a helicoil.
