dipstick?

I've got an 88 civic hatch just got it, the dipstick has 2 circles on it. no gradiant marks or anything. where is the oil supposed to be? I don't want to overfill it.

that's what I assumed, but it's a big area. I don't wanna mess things up, it's right at the first circle.

Put more oil in it

So here's how this works. One mark is the low mark, and is the minimum amount of oil you should have. The other mark is the full mark. I'm sure you can figure out the rest. Consult your owner's manual if you need more information.

im used to the hash marks that tell you. never seen a blank dispstick like that, just wanted to make sure before I added more oil. not trying to blow up my motor!

When in doubt, do an oil change. Then you'll know exactly how much oil you've put in, and what that amount of oil looks like on the dipstick. If you're worried about it, it's the best 20 minutes you'll spend.
