difference in loudness

how much louder will an exhaust be if the CAT is gutted? will it be earplug loud or just a minor difference

Re: difference in loudness

depends on what other components are in the system. if you have a resonator + muffler it will make almost no difference, but just a muffler it will get abit louder.

you have a neon, so it shouldnt be that loud. ;)

Re: difference in loudness

the stock exhaust comes with two resonators... so it should be that loud but there will be a difference?

there will be a difference. it may sound like crap. I know that if I were to scrap my cats, I wouldn't be able to stand driving my car, and not in a good way. If your main reason in taking them off is to make the car sound louder, I'd just leave them on.

gutting the cats makes the exhaust sound like ass. not really LOUDER.. just different tone and maybe a bit louder

buy a testpipe.

your cars turbo anyway, it cant get but so loud

True. a turbo actually acts like a muffler before a muffler. i know of a couple SRT's that have straight pipe without cats or muffs and the shit sounds nice at idle but you get the drowning noise when driving at low rpms. i will be using the stock resonators, so it shouldnt sound bad.

There is no way your cat is clogged already.

But if you remove it it'll be a little louder when you're on the throttle but WAY louder when you let off the throttle.
