DC INTEGRA AXLE QUESTION
ok where to start...cliffs
ordered a ls tranny from tiger japanese.
short on cash at this point and i buy an el cheapo bap geon passenger side axle.
drive for 3000 miles and axle pops out of tranny.
put axle back in, drive for about 50 miles axle pops back out.
since i work at the acura dealership now im thinking of just buying a oem axle
honda has to different part numbers for an axle ie gsr/ls
im thinking i have a ls tranny as i fall out of vtec every time i shift at high rpms but one time i did stay in vtec after shifting from third going into fourth. so im stuck as wich one to buy. does any body know the difference in a gsr axle and a ls axle as i cant return it if it doesnt work. so i want to get the right one the first time. any help?

Re: DC INTEGRA AXEL QUESTION
LS/GSR/32mm ITR manual axles are all the same, auto axles are different.
The correct axle should be about 24 1/4" long. I've personaly seen some of the cheap (autozone, napa) axles end up being up to an inch to short and will even sually compress the snap ring and pull themselves out of the tranny.
Anouther thing is the snap ring, some are just defective... Also it could be the installer (no offense), the axle can require some force to get the snap ring to seat properly. Some people don't push it in all the way. I like to get it slipped in all the way and then use a rubber mallet to tap the outer hub a few times to make sure its in all the way. Only torque the axle nut to 84ft.lbs.I learned this the hard way. Over tightening can pull the axle to far out.
I would recommend either OEM or quality reman. You can get OEM's of course from the Acura you work at, or you can get them from a JDM importer. I know HMotors online has OEM axles for a good price (I've always paid about $80 each). As for remans I would only recommend Raxles. I have a set of his axles on my DC2 now and they are great. He uses OEM balanced shafts but he replaces and upgrades the inner and outer cv joints/bearings/boots.
Hope this helps you...
