cross threaded flywheel..is there any hope?
 
i have a 9.5 lb. SR Motorsports flywheel, accidently cross threaded it when i was torqueing it down, and not realizeing until the last moment. Just wanted to kno since it is alum. if theres any hope to get new threads in it or is it toast?

get it tig welded and redrilled and tapped.

and have it strip again, or just drill out all of the holes, helicoil, and be done with it.

I would suggest using thread repair inserts(Helicoils) on all holes, so the assembly will stay balanced. Welding is an option, but it is much more work/money, and the steel inserts will hold-up to years of abuse.

thanks for the advice, i used the same thread bolt, but about a 1/4 inch longer that a way it would grab threads and it worked perfect, im just hopeing that it doesnt make a difference that the length is a just a little bit longer
