cracked piston

cracked piston
I pulled the head off my 95 talon tsi. the piston to the left had a crack in it and was seized up. what else can I expect? the other question I have is is there a possibility that theblock is still good.

Kind of hard w/o pics or better understanding of whats going on. Have taken the pan off? Is the piston cracked? Or chipped? Whats the oil look like? What about the head?

hope you can see it.
also the piston that is cracked is on the far left is in the middle the piston on far right is at tdc.
if im correct, then the piston that is cracked should be at tdc also.
correct me if im wrong.

If what you say is true, then most likely your rod ate shit too and perhaps your crank. As long as there are no deep gouges in the wall and its not bored out, your block is most likely salvagable (would want a machine shop to check it for concentricity/runout). Did you hydrolock the motor? Cracked/Chipped pistons are usually a result of knock or pre-detonation, which very well could have destroyed a rod over a period of time. What octane fuel were you running?

hydrolocked is a term of getting water in the motor. water doesnt compress so it just locks up. you wont know until you disassemble the motor and take it to a machine shop. good luck man.
