Convert auto to manual
I have a 97 integra ls and I really like it, its a great car, in awsome condition and has no problems...except its auto, don't get me wrong, nothing bad about it but I'd like to have a little more fun with the car. Ive thought long and hard between either selling it to buy the same car but with a manual transmission or to convert it from auto to manual. I have up and downs for both. I'm in college 5 days a week so if I sell it it will be hard to find someone to want it but let me drive it till I get the car I want so this would be a difficult timing issue for me. From what I've heard about converting the transmission is that it is time consuming if you do it on your own (either way im not that advanced to do so) and that is expensive to pay for the labor but it would be nice to have my same car which I love. Anybody have any suggestions? Anybody know someone that can do this for a good price? Let me know what you guys think.

Re: Convert auto to manual
Sell it buy a 5spd. Save yourself the headache. We used to do those swaps in about 7-8 hours out the door. We would get the car in the morning and have it out by Close of Business. It is very time consuming and it takes some cutting. We would charge for your car (Parts $800-1000 depending on the price of the Transmission) and another $500 for labor. Look to spend about $1500.00

Re: Convert auto to manual
Wow! thats alot cheaper than what I was thinking. Yeah i'm torn between the two. I dont know how I'd time the selling of my car and the buying of a similar car without going carless for a while. Thanks for the help

yeah just like crs said it is very time consuming, when we did it in my friends 90 hatch we had to do some plasma cutting and rewelding to get it to work it is alot of work, i would think about it and maybe just start looking for a manual car its gonna cost much more than its worth
