Default color of displays

I have been changing the color of my displays for my truck for a little while now. I have come across a stumbling block. for the area that has my headlight switch and dimmer and such. It has bulbs in there but there a bulb that I can not find anywere. so heres the deal.

There is a clear plastic peice that is used to carry the the light to the whole display what I was thinking was if I painted the back of it blue do you all think that would sufice for changing the color. I'm thinking that the light would reflect off the blue and then show up blue on the face. Let me know your thoughts on this

I figure that if I Paint that parts were the light isn't supposed to shine through it should do the job. at least i'm hoping. The radio is going to be a son of a gun. I have to take the face of the radio off and replace the bulbs inside there. that's going to be a job and a half there. I took the face of it off earlier and found that I can do it. I just have to take some serious time and find the right tool to take the circuit board off the face of the radio to access the lights.
