Clutch help

I have i 94 del sol and the clutch pedal is stuck to the floor. I checked the fluid reservoir and it was bone dry. I added fluid to it and it still stuck to the floor. what else should I check?

You still have to bleed it to get the fluid in the lines so the pedal will have resistance and work the way it's supposed to. To be quite honest your asking the wrong question anyway the more apparent one to me is why was it empty to begin with.

First you need to figure out why you have no fluid. Then fix that. Then bleed the system.

I just purchased it, it had been sitting for about 8 mos. where would be common places that leakage might occur that I could check?

It's a hydraulic system, haus. There's a master cylinder under the hood and a slave cylinder on the tranny itself. In between that are hydraulic lines. If any of that is leaking, it won't work, and your pedal will drop to the floor like you are seeing. Most likely there is a connection on the line somewhere is loose. Either that or one of the cylinders is shot. Fix that, bleed it, should be all better.

Run. Run away right now you're not ready.

Seriously.

ok so I bled it, clutch engages now but comes halfway up and then slowly returns back up. I've used about 3/4 bottle of fluid. Does it usually take more than one?

That's about average, monitor it for fluid loss or leaks to find out why it was out of fluid in the first place.

Re: Clutch help

Sounds like its sucking in air, which would agree with the fluid leak. Buy new master and slave cylinders. They're pretty cheap and you won't have to worry about it anymore. Our ideas of cheap may be different though. Maybe buy a braided clutch line as a sweet performance upgrade while you're replacing stuff.
