Default Car shutting off while driving

Trying to find some guidance on my cars latest issue. So I was driving to work today, and when ever I would press the clutch in and step on the brake my car would drop in rpms until it shut off. Luckly I would realize this before I came to a stop and would be able to push start it, and the car would start right back up.

I found that if I didnt immediatly step on the brakes the car would idle fine and let me stop without it stalling out. My car is also making a loud wining sound and it sounds almost like my car is supercharged, sounds like it might be from my alternator belt, could this also cause my stalling problem?

Thanks for any advice.

Hmm, couldnt tell you which one it is but I would have to guess electrical power. Car is a 1993 Civic hatch with a d16z6.

Check the tension on the ALT belt and both ALT bracket bolts are tight and still on.

sounds like the idle air control motor as far as the actual idle issues.

but stalling and the SC sound. sounds like the bearings in your alternator took a crap.

IACV is kinda old, I will defiantly change my alternator out tomorrow, since I have a spare one.

Thanks for all the help, any other suggestions I should look into?

make sure to do the alternator fisrt. that could be the culprit entirely. if it doesnt have enough juice to keep the car running. then the idle air control motor cant do its job. be sure to re-charge the battery before turning the car on after re-placing the alternator.

after the car is started, remove the positve battery cable. if the car stays running there should be no problems witht he alternator. blip the throttle a few times to put it under load. it still "shouldnt" die. if the alternator is good.
