car not starting..no spark NEED HELP PLEASE!!!!
ok 2 days ago i was leaving outta my neighborhood and as i shifted into 2nd gear my car started jumping really really bad so i pulled over and as i did that my car died.....when i went to start it back up it would just crank crank crank and no fire....it would sound like it wanted to start for a breif second but not start all the way.....so i checked the obvious...fuel and spark and im not getting spark for shit....i looked at the cap and cleaned off the contact points on the cap and i cleaned up the rotor button and still no spark....and when i try and start it my tach isnt moving at all like it should when you try and start it witch is kinda weird.....im thinking my dizzy crapped out on me but will they just crap out like all of a sudden?......sounds like a coil or the whole dizzy?......i need yall help on this PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE i feel like im bout to kill myself(not litterally) not being able to drive my baby on a nice ass day like today..lol...so any help would be GREAT thanks alot

yeah, the dizzy's will just up and die like that. had it happen to me before. it is pretty common for them to die (especially when it starts to get hot out) so if i was a gambling man that is what i'd put my money on.

yes sir its the tdc sensor (top dead center) in the dizzy or its the #1 cylinder position sensor in the dizzy......the only two major sensors in dizzy's the would cuase the dizzy to die hope this helped.

Whether the tach works or not completely depends on what the tach signal is connected to. If it's connected to the coil input or a coil output, you're not going to see anything if you're not getting any ignition trigger from the ECU because the distributor is dead.

found the problem.....some how a wire within the harness was exposed and grounding out....put some electrical tape on it and she started right up thanks for all the help
