Car died while driving

My car died while driving yesterday. towed it home and replced alternator. still want run if you take terminal off the battery. shouldnt it run off alternator? Any other reason it would just die and not run off the alternator? 2006 honda accord 4 cyl.

That happend to me once and it was the oil pump broke and the engine got mess up

but would that make the car die if you disconnect the battery

First if all, why do you suspect the alternator? Are there any other symptoms than "it just died"? An engine shutting off doesn't say "bad alternator" to me with no other reason.
