Default Cam gear question......

I had a d16z6 and bought a cam gear for it.Then decided to use a d16y8 instead and was wondering if they were the same.I know it will fit, but i was told that i had to set it on 4 degrees advanced for the timing to be right on the y8.Any help would be greatly appreciated.thanks in advance

just put it on 0, and re do timing on the car to stock. and it shouldn't matter i would think. but i don't mess with to many single anymore so i can't say to be 100% on it.

but i would think if you have the cam gear on 0 and just re do timing on the car to stock spec it would be stock. not advanced or anything. but i get a second opion to safety on it.

Yes you will be abou .5 of a tooth off.You need a stock d16z6 cam or aftermarket d16z6 cam.The y8 cam gear will throw your timing off. I believe you may also be able to use a d15b7 or d15b8 cam hear.

but YOU CAN NOT USE A STOCK Y8 CAM GEAR,AND IF YOU DO RUN A AFTERMARKET Y8 CAM GEAR MAKE SURE TO TO ADVANCE THE TIMING 4.75 DEGREE

HERES A PICTURE

Ignore the bottom end caption, thats my motor.
