Built CRx over heating @ idle
Ok I have a 89 crx si, engine is a LS/VTEC Turbo set up. It has B18a ls block, b16 head, darton closed deck sleeves bored to 84mm, h-beam rods, arias pistons, brand new type r water pump and timing belt, moroso half size radiator with high flow fan, all new cooling sytem hoses, new thermostat with 2 1/8" holes drilled into it, t4 turbo w/ ram horn manifold.
Ok heres the deal, car with over heat if idling to long. When it over heats the lower hose is still cold. Which means t-stat is not opened up yet, right? And fan is wired to a switch also. So im wondering if its still got air in the system due to the closed deck sleeves. But when the car is being driven the temp is fine, obviously cuz air is flowing thru the rad. I just dont know what would cause it to over heat @ idle...

I dont understand the holes being drilled in it either.
but its probably the thermostat. if the lower hose is staying cool even after the car has reached operating temperatue than no coolant is flowing. This happened to a buddy of mine, and myself in the same day a few months ago after swapping motors, Swapped thermostats and everything went back to normal, funny thing was we both used new thermostats, put our old ones back in and everything was fine. crazy.

Check thermostaat first and if that's not the case your plugs might be the wrong temp range. Did you step them down?

The thermo stat is brand new from auto zone, the reason y there r 2 1/8" holes drilled into it is to help the air purge from the cooling system. there is no bleeder valve. The dyno tuner in california told me to do that.
