i wanna build my jdm type r..but want a couple of opionins 1st....im thinking about getting some 81mm endyn rollerwave pistons 12:5:1 crower stage 2 cams and a port and polish job done on my head....i have this motor in a 96 gsr body and i want it to run mid 12's is this enough to do it?

No it will not be enough.

EEK 07-30-2003 10:09 AM

you need to bore that bitch out to like an 84mm

JKim 07-30-2003 10:21 AM

96 gsr with what? full internals? Gutted?

it depends on how light you can get that slut to be.

To run in the mid 12's in a 2600 lb car is very difficult. If you gut it out youll be in the low 2500's. You will have to make about 230-240whp to achieve your goal. Here is what it will take

81.5mm-87mm bore- you choose
12.5:1 and above compression
High Lift camshafts
built valve train
JDM ITR tranny is perfect
440cc Injectors Max
good tuning
good clutch

will it be enough, the hell are you thinking. i had A LOT more done to my B18C then what you are asking and i hit 13.8 in a 2gen teg. search around, 12's isn't easy. it will take more then bolt ons to reach it.

jdmintegra 08-02-2003 11:42 PM

zappas 08-03-2003 12:47 AM

That is still a little hards to believe being that you put the motor into a heavier chassis but ran fastere times then a stock R. You can do it on a 81.5mm bore, but expect to be using 12.5:1+ static compression. I would look a set of cams with a minimum of .440 inches of lift as well..

jdmintegra 08-03-2003 08:29 AM

thanks guys....how much does a stock type r weigh..i weighed my car on scales with me in it,,it was 2487...i dunno if the scales were wrong of im my car is just that light

nolongerhere. 08-03-2003 01:34 PM

mine's 2600ish
