If it is brand new, meaning has never been driven. Take it easy on it till around your first oil change, i've also heard change your oil every 750 miles, but new car's don't suggest it? So it could be just a "preventive" thing to some people I would assume.

i think it's a used motor so i'd just change the oil, start it up and let it warm to norm temp and just drive it. breaking in a motor is only for a fresh unstarted motor with all new components.

If it is a new motor as you say...on the first start of the motor I would for starts, pull the plug wires off and turn the motor over until the oil pressure light goes out. This will ensure that your bearings have oil before spinning the crank any faster than a few hundred rpm's.
I would then drive it for first 200mi without driving in vtec, or prolong highway driving. then change the oil and filter.
After that...you should should be fine. I tend to prolong my personal breaks...but that's only me.

If you don't mind me asking...how did you buy a brand new JDM gsr motor?

Remember when the engine is very first started, you should run it at about 2000 RPM to break in the camshafts, this is a relatively low RPM with relatively high oil pressure. Do this for about 20 minutes. Running organic (IE not synthetic) oil is recommended for most break-ins. After this it is recommended not to perform your break in on the high way. Remember to keep peak RPM low with occasional and brief entrances into the high RPM band, and allow RPM to chage frequently when under load (City Driving). I do this for about 500 Miles, some will give other mileage, but I think it depends on the engine and what components are installed.
