Default Break problems

Basically, starting this morning, I have had to pump my brakes and use my parking brake in order to stop quickly. My brake will be tight when i push down on the brake peddle, but the next time i push down, it goes to the floor hardly braking at all, and slowly. So it basically switches between being tight and going to the floor each time i press down on brake pedal. Brake fluid is full and was flushed not to long ago. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

*Edited for using the wrong form of brake(break) multiple times...stupid me

Sounds like the master cylinder is going bad. Check under your dash for any leaks. Mine was like that, and I replaced it and it went away.

you either have a leaky/faulty master cylinder, or all kinds of air in the brake lines or some fucked up calipers.

Yeah, change the pads and bleed all the brakes until no air bubbles come through, if that doesn't work you need to look at the bmc.

Argh, sorry brakes. Well the brake system has already been bled and the front brake pads were replaced about a month ago...I guess I'll look into checking out this master cylinder. Thanks.

Edit: I definitely think it's the master cylinder, I'm guessing it's just one of the two circuits leaking, which is reducing my brake power. Thanks for all the help guys. May I ask how much you payed for you master cyclinder Jarrod?

I went to autozone and payed like 40 bucks for mine.

Well I called autozone, and apparently he couldn't tell me what size master cylinder I needed....He only gave me an option of 13/16 or 7/8, which one do you think would be better? I have 93 honda civic dx completely stock.

Go with the bigger one, the 7/8. You might as well while you're replacing it.
