Why would he run an obd1 ecu on an obd0 motor and obd0 car?
PG7 is the correct ecu for that engine
Edit for future rebuttal: He didn't say he was converting to obd1, and he's obv not vtec. If he wanted to get tuned, then the best route would be get a PM6 and get it socketed. PM6 can be found cheap, as well as the PG7.

That crossed my mind as well, I just try to be helpful these days. Even if this site is not the best source for info so readily available elsewhere on the web
If you want to get tuned, then I'd seek out a PM6 thats already socketed or get a virgin one and get it socketed. There might be another ecu or so that is obd0 and can be socketed, but I'm only aware of the PM6 being the most common. Possibly due to how many there are out there.

PM6 is just about the only worthwhile option for OBD0 ECUs, but software support is fairly limited.
