b20vtec, no vtec???? mechanical problem
quick question for you guys on vadriven
i have a freshly put together b20vtec with 2,000 miles on it, i have a jdm b20b block with kings bearings std size bearings all around, hastin rings, stock jdm 9.2:1 compression b20b pistons and rods and crank, it was honed, rods and pistons reconditioned, arp rod bolts(were pressed in), gsr oil pump, water pump. my block isnt producing enough oil pressure for vtec to engage, what could cause that? i know its a mechancial problem not an electrical problem, so what could it be?
could it be the oil feed tube to the oil pump being clogged up? or would it be something else?
and dont say it wasnt assembled right bc it was assembled right.
i have all of the locking rocker pins in the rocker arms, i have the right hole on the head plugged, and three different shops said that its my oil pressure in my block.
its not in limp mode
speed sensor is good
the tach works
oil pan is in mint shape, no dents
oil pressure for when vtec tech is supposed to be active is at 60psi
ive tried hitting vtec while it wasnt warmed up and while it wasnt warmed up
the vtec solinoid is good, and the screen isnt clogged
the solinoid clicks if i touch the solinoid wire to the battery

Re: b20vtec, no vtec???? mechanical problem
Did you install an lsvtec kit, i.e. a sandwich plate/oil feed source to vtec solenoid, correct size oil line, vtec ecu?

How do you know you don't have enough pressure? Are you measuring it somewhere? Also, have you checked the behavior of the VTEC output from the ECU and the VTEC pressure switch input to the ECU?

i have an oil guage on the back of the block, and the ecu is fine i plugged it up to a obd1 gsr and it worked fine, and the pressure switch is fine bc i had the b16 head on a b16a block and it worked fine

You have to take that pin out if you look it up it allows a non vtec block become vtec the pin makes the oil pressure restricted and won't allow it to build enough pressure to engage in to vtec
