b16a2 question

car will not run it will crank, compression is only reading 75 on three cylinders and 0 on one of them, timing appears to be right. anybody know anything about this

Bent valves? Did this just suddenly occur, or were you driving and the car cut off?

75? Is this normal for a Honda? That sounds low regardless.

If the problem is in one cylinder and not all, then it's not likely to be timing. You probably have shitty valves, springs, rings or all the above.

sounds like you've got a blown up motor

yeah 75 is low it should be like 175. and i was driving it happened when i took it out of gear to stop and just shut down and wont start since.

You said only 3 pistions are going, so the 4th is not firing? Chech your spark plug and wires. You should have a check engine light on as well. Also check fuel injector for that piston.

Re: b16a2 question

no codes on check engine light and it has a strong spark the fuel should not effect the compression

he didn't say it wasn't fireing, he said there was no compression in one. that means: blown head gasket, cracked sleeve, bad ring, bad valves...anything that would prevent that cylinder from sealing up properly. the 75 compression in the rest...i dunno. take the head off and check it out.

Re: b16a2 question

just put new piston rings and headgasket on 2 weeks ago but never had the head leak tested so im thinking its a valve. an i think the motors not spinning fast enough to get the compression up so i think the starter might be going bad too.

was there any kind of smoke. was your coolant temperature in check when it went. who put the engine together. did the motor have any trouble before you swaped the internals. give us as many details/history as you can.
