b16a
i bought a b16a bare block a while ago with the intention to build it and put it in my 95 civic. my question is whether or not i can build to be an obd1. i understand that the transmission still has to be a cable transmission. or should i just go ahead and get an obd1 or obd2 swap.
Thanks to all that reply.

Re: b16a
you can use any b series tranny you want like a ls gsr type r or si trans, what im trying to say is that you can build it any way you want only reason you would have to use a cable tranny is if your car doesnt have a hydro clutch but being you have a 95 it should be hydro not cable

Re: b16a
im willingto help you as much as i can i have done tons of b series swaps i dont know it all but i know enough you can use any obd you want most people go obd0 or obd1 because you can chip them and have more of a tuning ablity the only good thnig about obd2 ecu's are they will tell you whats wrong like
this..obd1 will tell you that the motor has a random misfire obd2 will tell you motor has a misfire in cylinder 3
get what im saying?

Re: b16a
The engine it's self does not matter in the case of the OBD of the car. Most of the sensors are the same no matter the OBD. The main issue is the car it's self. If your car is a 95 then it should be an OBD1 car. If it was me I would stay OBD1 for the tuning options. OBD2 little to none, same with OBD0.
Hope that helps.
