i just had a b16 swap done in my civic im trying to find out wat kind of tranny it has its a jdm b16a it came with a ys1 tranny that could be b17,ls ,or b16 with lsd, to me the tranny has short gears unlike my previous civic if im cruisin the high way around 65 my rpms are around 3200 or so, can somebody help me identify wat kind of tranny this is

All of the B16 trannies have short gears. Get used to it.

B16's, B18C1 and C5 all have short gearing. Thats why a lot of people swap in a ls 5th gear to lower the rpms on the highway and conserve gas.

sorry but i think you guys misunderstood me, im hopin that i have shorter gears and that i have a b16 tranny and not an ls tranny cuz i know ys1 could be either ls,b17 or b16 with lsd, im hopin its not a ls tranny

i belive if its lsd from the factory then it will be stamped on the casing. i dont think there is any identifiying marks on the tranny between the b17 and the b18

Ok im like 98% sure that its not a b17 due to your RPM at 65mph. You would know if its an LS by how long and hopeless the gears are on that NA B16 =-) Hopefully you have a B16 tranny but hell if you do have a b17 lucky you.... I loved mine besides on the highway.

Here is a good way to tell if your the proud owner of a b17.... If your at 8.2k in 4th and only doing 109mph =-p you have a b17..... good luck dude

A b16 tranny running 65 mph should be around 4k or so. I believe sir, you have a ls tranny.

if you can cruise in 3rd gear at 45mph and it doesn't sound like the tranny is screaming, then it is an LS
