b16 swap
I was swapping in a 2000 b16 in a 97 civic and accidently dropped it when the hoist tipped. It landed flat on the exshaust side and I did not see any damage except for a few scrapes .I have it installed but it is hard to start and overheats I ran a obd check and a trouble code came up for the tps and ect I checked and replaced both just in case .I also noticed when I take off the oil cap with the motor running it seems to push out a lot of air and make a strange noise.I would appreciate any help or advice ,in a few days I will be removing the whole head to examine and try to find the problem

Re: b16 swap
was there anything wrong with the motor to start with pushing air out of the oil fill hole could be two reasons pvc valve bad or rings bad, compression check will tell you a little

Also make sure all the air is out of the colling system. Since you just did the swap, I'm sure all the coolant was drained. Air in coolant will cause your overheating problem.

Re: b16 swap
yeah it's problably what SlowLS said. I had it happen to a swap i did, i think there was air still trapped in the heater core. I would just check it again after it cools down.
