Default B-Series Internals

im looking to put down around 350-400 whp in a crx with a B17 turbo setup in it. The bottom end has a blown piston, so i thought what the hell, just build it. I am looking online and cant find anything for a B17 for cheap, so now i have a couple questions.

Will the B16 Crank, Rods, and Pistons fit my B17 block?
ANSWERED! THANKS YOU!

What needs to be done to the head to hold this kind of power?
i cant think of a reason the head would fail at this kind of power range, but i might be mistaken, so please enlighten me. already has adjustable cam gears.

will be using all ARP hardware and a cometic headgasket at about a 9.0 compression

thanks in advance for the help

*edit*
wht kind of 1/4 mile times could i be thinking about with slicks?

still wondering if the head needs any work?

i would bore out the block and go to a 1.8L.

you will have tons of parts to choose from then.

b17 blocks are the same as the b16 but with just a longer stroke on the crankshaft...u can transfer everything over from ur b16 with no problem

You're looking to put out 400 horsepower and you want to buy cheap parts. This does not compute.

ding ding ding. IF it makes that power with cheap parts...it more than likely wont last long. i could be wrong but thats my experience.

not talking "cheap cheap"

eagle rods
ACL race bearings
B16 lightweight crank
SRP pistons
ARP hardware
all new gaskets

but i still want to know what kind of head work needs to be done? i dont think i need a whole lot, if any, but i do have a budget for this car, so i want to know whats neccesary to be done with the head for my kind of power range.

its just all the parts that i do find for the B17 are retarded expensive

well it doesnt NEED to be done...But a retainer can always break and drop a valve at any time any rpm any power level...and remember...thats gonna ruin atleast 1 piston..and if it goes back thru the intake, can go into the rest of the pistons and fuck them up...So...thats really the only reason you NEED to build the head.If you building the bottom end....mien as well throw new shit in the top end..even if you dont port and polish it..mine as well make the engine all new at the same time...instead of half new...then all of it blown...and having to make ALL of it new at once again. lol...damn i confuse myself when i get to typing on here alot and talkin in IMs...lol..later

PS...check out some SRM H beam B series rods think they are $250 shipped...rated for 950hp, and 9500rpms. thats hell of a deal, and comes with arp rod bolts an caps.

What are you going to do with the B17 crank?
