b series head swap
Alright so i had a thread up about replacing my timing belt and the motor still running like shit. Motor is a b16. The head looks like it has a pile of miles on it. While cleanin out the garage today I decided to take apart my gsr motor. I forgot when I pulled the motor it only had 60k miles on it. Just the bottom end was fucked up cause it spun a rod bearing. Ive decided to put my gsr head on my b16 block. Was wondering if I could get some input. Is it worth it to port and polish the head? Going to put on skunk2 manifold and cams.... Was curious if I'm going to see any hp gain after I do this... Not looking for opinions. Would like to hear from someone who has done it. I figured this would be the best thing to do considering the amount of miles and I really dont know if the valves are fucked up... Any problems I may run into when doing this? Can I keep the same header? I heard the gsr sits up a little higher. At first I didnt wanna do this, but after cleaning the motor off today it seems like a must.

If you do it right you will see more power, especially in the higher revs. I would also recommend doing a valvejob after porting your head, porting head with stoch valveseats = stock power.

id go ahead and have the head shaved, port and polished, get some new valve seals, and build the head up, i.e. get some springs and retainers with those cams and some cams gears. with all of that, and some good tuning and 93 octane, you should see a decent gain. ditch the stock header and get something like a hytech or rmf header. with good tuning you will be able to rev the piss out f that motor and have good power.
