Default b-series gear swap

so the differential in my b16 transmission blew and i got a hole in the casing. and im wondering if i can just pull out the guts (if they are even salvagable) and put them into any b-series casing?

this is a cable b16 by the way so of course i would be talking about another cable transmission

The 1st gen cable Y1, S1, J1, and the LS A1/S1's are interchangable within themselves and nothing else. Good luck on finding a decent set of gears for a 1st gen.

The 2nd gen cable YS1's are interchangable with all the hydro Y21, Y80, S21, S80 & S4C.
There are somethings to watch out out for like GSR/ITR diffs and ring gears will not fit with the B16/LS's. As far as the GSR being a better tranny, I would have to disagree. The B16 trannies have the best 1st gear and share the same second and third gear as the ITR's The GSR 1st through 3rd are only slightly longer.

The B series casing are not the same between the 1st gen cables and 2nd gens cables/hydros. The 1st gen has only two shift rods where the 2nd gens/hydros have three.

To answer you question...yes you can swap out your gears into another casing as long as it is the same generation. Also if you truely want to stop blowing holes in your trannies...then just get a OEM or Quaife LSD. I have never seen a helical LSD break!!!
