auto electricians? alternator problem...
my car keeps going through alternators like every weekend, and they only die on friday or saturday when i have somthing planned that involves cars. what could possibly be killing all of these alternators that i keep getting from auto zone (i know thats probaly part of my problem)? i ran a new cable from the alternator to the fuse box and from there to the battery, and i ran a wire off the alternator to ground to the body.i did all that on the last alternator install. i noticed most of the time the alternators die right if i race the car (taking it up to 7k rpms). any help is appreciated.

not always. cardone=teh sux0rz. i use Belden (NAPA) at work, and have RARELY had an issue with one. like, out of 125 units i have installed in the last year, about three had issues within a year.
ya get what you pay for.

I went through 4 altenators in my G/F's Celice, before I got one that worked. Aftermarket electrical parts suck

I have an odd electrical issue with my truck. I usually have to replace the alternator every year. It's reman'd from Advance auto with a lifetime warranty, ive replaced it about 2 or 3 times with in 5 years. And yes im sucking up the lifetime warranty. I have yet to pay a dime for a new one.
Devan, have you check if the nut or connector is loose? or how about corroded? You didnt tap into anything with the new motor did you? You didnt cut anything when hacking for the FMIC did you?

Re: auto electricians? altenator problem...
i remember one time i had alternators die on me like there was no tommrow. make sure your battery is all the way charged before trying to turn over with the new alternator. and i found out my problem was a bad alternator fuse. I thought i had checked it out and i must be blind sometimes but once i put in the new one i was good to go. good luck
