Default Any "head" guru's or machinist on here.....just did fluid test

Ok, i have a ls/vtec motor i assembled for someone.....start it up and it had a "putter" to it.

First thing i did was compression test...#3 cylinder had 65psi. Added oil, no change.

So i pulled the head... not thinking to do a leakdown like a dumbass. Although i am pretty sure its in the head. What else would you expect buying a head from someone on Vadriven.."in perfect shape"

Now i have the head on the bench, #3 cylinder being suspect, i fill the ports with ATF and......what do ya know, 1 valve on the intake side and 1 valve on the exhaust side leak fluid, all others held fine.

Heres my question.... Does this mean its just my valve seats or will i still need my valves put on a lathe? I can have just the two fixed right, not all 4.

I know i sound cheap, but this motor has been a sumbitch.

1st make sure they arent bent. next take some lapping compound and with the valves in the head but the springs removed, place the valve stem in a drill and spin the hell out of them. with the compound on the seat area of the valve of course. this will seat the valve seat and valve and correct the non-sealing issue
