Default Any DSMlink Gurus out there?

So recently i had the joy of my car being broken into and some rather pricey things stolen out of it. After repairing what was damaged or stolen i noticed today that my DSMlink cable was also stolen. After doing some research on the intrawebz i cant find a definitive answer about a replacement one the dsmlink site says they dont sell just the cable anymore due to piracy issues so i cant just call them and get another one. Does anyone know if a normal scan tool/ data logger cable will work or is there something special about the one that comes with the DSMlink.

You can email then @ ecmtuning & explain & give them the order number or proof you purchased the hardware "dsmlink" & they will send you another cable @ cost.

Should be serial numbered on the chip in the ECU (or get ahold of the previous owner & ask them WTF is up with the dsmlink recipt lol)

I dont know which version of dsmlink you have, and if you have a first or second gen,but depending on your goals for the car,you might just want to pay the 175 and upgrade to v3.With that you get a new cable, which is usb instead of serial.I purchased my dsmlink link v2 without a cable, but since i want to run speed density im just upgrading to v3.Only thing that sucks is that right now the 1st gen upgrades are on backorder until atleast early june

2G V2 DSMLink: Please note that these OBD2 cables are NOT compatible with our older V2 2G DSMLink packages. In order to combat counterfeit efforts, our V2 2G DSMLink adapters were custom made with hardware that these cables do NOT have. You can get more information off our counterfeit copies page as well as on our 2G V2 cable page.
I have a 2g with V2 dsmlink, so that's not gonna help me. I sent an email to ECMtuning and talked to Thomas, who was extremely helpful i might add. He said if i pull out my ecu snap a pic of their name and serial number on the chip and send it to him then we can work something out with a replacement cable. And depending on what that costs i might just upgrade to V3.

The rain finally stopped today and i got a chance to pull out my ecu and snap a pic of the chip. I emailed the picture to Thomas and they are going to send me a 2g v2 cable for the same price as a normal replacement. I really cant say enough about all the help i got from him, i was really impressed with the service i got.
