Default 97 civic idle

i searched the forum and couldnt find nothing specifically related to my problem.

lets see i went out of town and when i came back and started my car i noticed it was idling around 500. it had only been sitting a couple of days and i have never had any problems with it before. motor is a d16y8.

today while driving home i felt shaking at every light and noticed i was idling at 100.
my volt gauge kept dropping and then raising back up. any suggestions on what to check.
il probably change the battery tonight but was wondering if anyone could add some input

have you check your vacuum lines? for some reason mine was doing the same thing and it was the connection at the intake to the throttle body. i have a y7 and its got that big box that sits on top of the trottle body.

It's not the battery, could be a vaccuum leak, the IACV's on that car are known to go out with some frequency. Does it go up and down, or is it just low?
Good luck.
