96 civic d15b WONT STOP OVERHEATING!!
Gotta 96 ek with d15b vtec keeps overheating.
Thermostat was stuck so I took it out. NO thermostat is in it right now.
This started last night. First time it did it there was no coolant. I added coolant to the over flow and the radiator. I never let it over heat long.
I first changed the hose on the head that goes under the intake manifold becauseit was busted.
Next I re wired the fan..so it works when I turn on the key.
Changed the radiator cap so it works now.
I just now took out the thermostat so thereis not one now.
My friend said try to bleed it by one of the water necks.
Please what could this be.
also even when it overheard it blows out cold air when I turn the heat on.

Sounds like a blown headgasket.

No its not smoking... also no water in the oil. I just added half a gallon of water and it helped but it gets hot but doesn't over heat. Gets 3 quarters up then goes back down.
There isn't a bleeder valve on the thermo housing either

please DO NOT add more water, use the proper coolant.

doesnt have to smoke to have a blown headgasket

Put a new thermostat in it. Coolant is constantly flowing and never has a chance to stop in the radiator and cool down.

The radiator is getting hot I assume, so you're confident that coolant is being circulated around the cooling system by the water pump?

That's ass backwards, and cooling doesn't work that way luckily. A fully open (or missing) thermostat will over-cool the engine in many conditions, which is the reason that thermostats are necessary in the first place. No thermostat means no thermal regulation. The radiator inherently presents plenty of flow restriction to the coolant without having to have a thermostat to regulate flow volume.

FWIW, he'll be just fine.
This could also be an issue, but not likely.
Good post- I was also thinking the same. To the OP: are you actually losing coolant? How fast is it losing coolant? Is your passenger floor carpet wet?
The 'cold heat' is a good sign you have a blockage, or a stuck thermostat (But it's obviously not a bad thermo for you). Maybe your pump took a shit.
Try running the car with the radiator cap off and full. See if you notice any movement.
Interesting. That is good info. Sounds like you are probably either leaking or consuming coolant, and you need to bleed the air from the coolant system if you aren't getting any heat. Bleeding the cooling system isn't going to solve whatever is causing the leaking or consumption problem, but properly bleeding the system will get you back to baseline and help you uncover what the real problem actually is.
The radiator is getting hot I assume, so you're confident that coolant is being circulated around the cooling system by the water pump?

It didn't have enough water. I messed with it all day Friday.
I added water Thursday but didn't see the busted hose cause it was night time.
So the next day I ASSUMED it was full of water but it leaked out of the bad hose.
So after changing the radiator cap.. taking out the thermostat .. changing the hose.. and calling Honda and being scared it was a cracked head... IT WAS JUST LOW ON WATER.
I thought that all day.. wasn't enough water to hold heat for the heater core so it blew out cold air. That's what happens when u ASSUME. THANKS EVERYONE.
