Default 95 Civic misfire problem

I have a 95 civic lx with the original d15b7 in it. The issue I am having is a bad misfire to where the motor almost completely shuts down. When the a/c is switched on it almost completely dies, I'm guessing because of the increased load on the motor. I figured it was something within the ignition system so I did the basics (plugs, wires, and tried another distributor from a perfectly running 94 civic). These did not effect the misfire problem. I am not sure what to try next, any feedback or help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks you guys.

Describe more about the "misfire" and what conditions cause it to behave like that. Is this only at idle, or under load, or only at certain RPM ranges, or certain throttle positions, etc.
